Visakhapatnam: A high-level team on Thursday visited the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) and called on its Chairman Dr. M Angamuthu and other senior officials to discuss handling more traffic from the port, which has been declared as a gateway port for Kathmandu-bound cargo by the Ministry of Commerce in the past.
The Chairperson welcomed the delegation from Nepal led by Iswar Raj Poudel, Consulate General, Embassy of Nepal, Kolkata.
The delegation included Janak Bhatta, Deputy Consulate General, Embassy of Nepal, Kolkata, and Taranath Adhikari, Economic Minister, Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi. Visakhapatnam Port, a premier gateway for Nepalese traffic after the Kolkata Port, achieved a milestone by handling a record 42,550 containers for Nepal during the fiscal year 2023-24.
